Solpadol is a brand name for Co-codamol. It is a pain killer medication and is suggested for use by patients 12 years old and above. Solpadol is a combination of two potent drugs, Codeine and Paracetamol.

Solpadol is the branded version of painkiller medication Co-codamol. It is a type of drug that can be used by patients at least 12 years old. Solpadol is the combination of two known drugs, Paracetamol and Codeine.

What is Solpadol?

Solpadol and Co-codamol is essentially the same drug: it is a medication intended to relieve or alleviate pain that ranges in mild to moderate severity. Solpadol is prescribed to patients that are at least 12 years of age who suffer from pain that cannot be treated with Paracetamol or Ibuprofen, such as post-surgery pain. Solpadol is a medication that has two main ingredients: Codeine and Paracetamol.

What Effect Does Solpadol Have on the Body?

Solpadol is clinically proven to interfere with the body's ability to respond to injury or pain. When we feel pain, it means the prostaglandins are making the nerves in your body sensitive to aches and pains. Solpadol minimizes prostaglandin levels in the body so the patient feels less pain, or none at all, after taking the medication.

Codeine is a drug that falls under the opioid group of substances. Opioid drugs work by imitating naturally occurring hormones in the body. These hormones are called endorphins which is essential in managing pain by helping to block pain messages. Codeine is not as strong as other opioids in the market but it is effective in managing mild to moderate aches and pains.

How is Solpadol Beneficial?

Pain has physical and psychological effects that can prevent a person to perform his or her daily tasks properly or efficiently. Your productivity can be hampered significantly when you have untreated pain bothering you. Solpadol may be the answer to managing pain safely and effectively. The drug blocks pain receptors so that you can make the pain go away. Solpadol is an effective pain management drug that will help you avoid the debilitating effects of pain.

How do I use Solpadol?

Solpadol is taken orally with a full glass of water. It may also be purchased in soluble capsules and effervescent tablets so it can be easily dissolved. It is best to follow your doctor's or physician's orders when taking Solpadol. It is not recommended to take Solpadol without any advice from a healthcare professional like a doctor, nurse, and a licensed pharmacist.

What is the Right Solpadol Dosage?

A reliable medical professional should advise the patient with the best way to take Solpadol. Typically, the dose is one or two tablets taken orally every four hours or every six hours. The number of Solpadol tablets taken should not be more than 8 tablets for 24 hours. The dosage strength will vary depending on the patient's condition and according to the assessment of the doctor. Consult with your doctor whether the 8mg or 15mg is a suitable dosage – prescriptions for dosage can be as much as 30mg.

Adults should take 1 to 2 Solpadol tablets once every 4 to 6 hours, but the number of tablets should not exceed 8 pieces in a span of 24 hours. For older patients, a tablet of Solpadol may be taken every four to six hours. If the dose needs to be reduced or increased, reach out to your doctor.

Young people between sixteen or eighteen years of age may take 1 or 2 tablets every 4 hours up to 6 hours. Similarly, the number of Solpadol tablets should not be more than 8 for the entire 24 hours. For children 12 years old to 15 years old, a tablet of Solpadol may be taken every four hours to six hours, but must never exceed 4 tablets in a span of 24 hours. Solpadol should not be given to children below 12 years old because their bodies may not be ready to handle opioid toxicity.

Solpadol treatment duration usually lasts 3 days. If there are no positive results after this time or conditions have worsened, it is crucial to speak to your doctor immediately since Solpadol is a prescription-only drug.

Solpadol Precautions and Side Effects

Because Solpadol contains the opioid Codeine as one of its main ingredients, there are possible side effects like confusion, constipation, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, urinary problems, and vomiting. Prolonged use may also result in drug tolerance or drug dependence which is likely possible when taking Codeine mediations or opioids.

The regular and extended intake of Codeine will likely lead to addiction to the opioid or tolerance to the drug's effects. Patients on prolonged use of Solpadol may experience restlessness and irritability as seen on people with prolonged use of Codeine. Many people are unaware that painkillers, when abused, can make existing aches and pain worse.
